Ruby
Ruby
Derived from the Latin term ‘ruber,’ rubies are known for their stunning red shade. Due to their rarity, these gems are often incredibly expensive. Despite being known for their red shade, they are also available with pink as well as purple hues. They are popular not just due to their color, but their durability. It is the red version of the mineral corundum. It is interesting to note that some stones which are known as rubies including the Black Prince’s Ruby within the Imperial State Crown are in fact spinels.
